How long will it take for my web site to be designed?
Typically a site will be launched in four to six weeks after the date that all of your content is received by us. There are many variables, however, including the size of your site, the amount of customized programming needed, and how many other projects are scheduled at that time, all of which affect turnaround time.
Once the site is launched, do you offer any after sale services?
Aside from hosting, we offer maintenance and SEO (search engine optimization) services.
SEO services can range from optimizing content and layout to creating a constellation of related sites for link sharing and promotion. We take care of the mundane work of promoting these sites, as well as the target site, in various other directories and websites so you can spend your time doing business.
How do I update my website? How long does this usually take?
Database driven means instant gratification. You will be able to update your own website anytime you want and the changes will take place immediately.
If you prefer that we make the changes for you or if they are global changes to the overall look or functionality of your site, most of these changes are accomplished in approximately one day to one week for relatively minor updates.
If the change is fairly large, timing will need to be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
Will my site always be available?
Yes, of course! Well, 99.9% of the time, anyway. No one can prevent acts of God, but even so, our hosting company has an outstanding record of uptime. Generally speaking, as long you have internet service your site will be accessible.
How many pages can I have on my site?
You can have as many pages on your site as you like. Initially, most new sites contain 10 - 20 pages of content. For this reason our packages are priced to include 10- 20 pages of content with the initial setup of your site by Effective Website Solutions LLC. Beyond that, you will be able to add as many pages as you would like using our website tools. This is only limited by the amount of space the hosting server allows which is currently approximately 10 GB per site. On average, this converts to approximately 100,000 pages! We also allow 100 GB per month of bandwidth.
Who will develop a list of appropriate search engine terms?
Since nobody knows your business better than you, this task is usually best left to you. We can provide you with tools to make the task easier and provide guidance when necessary.
Which directories/networks will my site be listed on?
Most search engines worth their salt will quickly find your site through links from other sites. Such links are very important in establishing your placement in search engines. Submitting your site to search engines can improve the initial timing to be placed in a search engine. However it is not a useful technique for increasing SERPs (Search Engine Result Placement). Human moderated directories such as DMOZ.org will not find your site automatically, though, and therefore would require submission. This is a simple task that the site owner should undertake themselves. Of course, if preferred, we will perform this service.
Why are database-driven sites better?
Database-driven sites allow the site owner or administrator the ability to maintain their own site. This keeps the long term costs lower as the client does not need to pay maintenance fees to keep content up-to-date. Many clients also find that this actually helps them to keep their site more current as the costs are lower and the turnaround time is faster.
Further, database-driven sites provide a higher level of interactivity with visitors. Visitors can execute custom searches, save results, interact dynamically with maps, and generally customize their own experience on the site assuming the site model and content lend themselves to such functionality.
How many different forms are there for updating my site?
This will depend on the complexity of your site. Most pages are all updated using the same form. Some areas such as link and FAQ pages have unique forms. In total, most sites can have the content maintained entirely using less than six to ten different forms. We also include help files and/or tips directly on the forms to assist you. The forms are very user-friendly and intuitive to use.
If I have difficulty updating, will you help me?
Absolutely! Just call or email and we will assist you!
